Georeferencing Flickr resources based on textual meta-data
The task of automatically estimating the location of web resources is of central importance in location-based services on the Web. Much attention has been focused on Flickr photos and videos, for which it was found that language modeling approaches are particularly suitable. In particular, state-of-the art systems for georeferencing Flickr photos tend to cluster the locations on Earth in a rela...
متن کاملGeoreferencing Semi-Structured Place-Based Web Resources Using Machine Learning
In recent years, the shared content on the web has had significant growth. A great part of these information are publicly available in the form of semi-strunctured data. Moreover, a significant amount of these information are related to place. Such types of information refer to a location on the earth, however, they do not contain any explicit coordinates. In this research, we tried to georefer...
متن کاملCombining Multi-resolution Evidence for Georeferencing Flickr Images
We explore the task of determining the geographic location of photos on Flickr, using combined evidence from Naive Bayes classifiers that are trained at different spatial resolutions. In particular, we estimate the location of Flickr photos, based on their tags, at four different scales, ranging from a city-level granularity to fine-grained intra-city areas. Using Dempster-Shafer’s evidence the...
متن کاملPhoto Set Refinement and Tag Segmentation in Georeferencing Flickr Photos
In this paper, we describe our approach as part of the MediaEval 2013 Placing Task evaluation. We use language model and similarity search as baseline approach, and improve the accuracy by two techniques: photo set refinement and tag segmentation. The first technique takes advantage of geo-location correlation among test photos and the second one exploits the textual similarity between tags.
متن کاملGeoreferencing Flickr photos using language models at different levels of granularity: An evidence based approach
The topic of automatically assigning geographic coordinates to Web 2.0 resources based on their tags has recently gained considerable attention. However, the coordinates that are produced by automated techniques are necessarily variable, since not all resources are described by tags that are sufficiently descriptive. Thus there is a need for adaptive techniques that assign locations to photos a...
